NO LIMB-ITS CHALLENGE Day- 8&9!!

The weekends, just seem to fly by. Here one minute, then before you know it, its Monday! April 8 th : Friday, was full of laughter and family time. Des came by to take me to the local Publix. All I had to do was, to pick up my new prescription, and a few groceries. As you remember, I was complaining of pain in a few of my posts. Well, here we are, just about 3 months out. The pain still gets pretty intense at times some of it is very consistent for days, at a time. Then a numb tingly sensation, just stays there 24/7. I’ve become used to the feeling of my foot being suffocated in a bucket of cement… Yes, I’m talking about the foot that is now sitting in a can on my dresser (I really need to get a nice urn for my ashes, a fun story to tell at another time). That numbness is with me all day every day. I can still feel my ankle, moving around trying to stop the sensations coming through, a limb that’s no longer there.   Phantom pains are REAL. Those who don’t believe...

NO LIMB-ITS CHALLENGE Day-6!!

April 6 th : The pain kept me up all night. They say the rain can increase your pain, well, they must be right! I have this feeling that my foot is being suffocated in cement. I can feel my ankle move trying to break free. Weird I know, honestly without looking at it, I can't even tell if my foot is really gone or not. I can also feel the pain in my ankle from where the open wound had been. Needless to say, I didn’t fall asleep till 7 am. When I woke up at 12:30 in the afternoon, I ate the leftovers from our dinner the night before and started my day. The nausea was intense when I first woke up but eased up as the day continued. My sinus infection is still there, just not as debilitating as the day before. Outside of all of that though, let me just say, I had so much ENERGY!! I spent the day perfecting my laundry techniques, while jamming out to some music. There is a whole skill to affectively doing laundry now. As if, it wasn’t already a pain before with two...

NO LIMB-ITS CHALLENGE Day-5!!

April 5 th : Well, you guys, jokes on me! I thought April fools was on the first not today! I woke up even more sick than the days before! So, I would say, my health day was not enough. You know what this means, right?? Yep! No surgery for this gal on Thursday! No, I am not happy about it either. For those who are not familiar with my health… Before I could have the Amputation, my doctor recommended an IVC filter to be placed. What this does is, prevent the blood clots I developed from the accident from traveling do to the surgery. If this was to occur, I could end up having a, Stroke, Pulmonary Embolism, heart attack. Long story short, this was a preventive measure the doctors felt was important to put into play. So, two days before the big mutilation date (I mean pretty much what it was, just a sterile environment. And not illegal), I went in to have the filter put in place. And now, its time for it to come out. Does it have to come out right now? No! but it w...

NO LIMB-ITS CHALLENGE- Day 3!!

April 3 rd : Sunday is probably my favorite day of the week, and yesterday was beautiful! You can tell Spring is here. The Creeping Phlox around the mailbox, has covered the flower bed, leaving the ground completely purple, the Daffodils are getting closer to blooming. If that really is Daffodils, and not just weeds taking over. The Sun was out and though a little chilly in the shade, in direct sun light, it was warm. Waking up yesterday, the ugly side of spring creeped in. Puffy eyes, headache, drainage… the nasty Spring pollination set my allergies off and has had me so not feeling this challenge. As the morning went on, the better I felt. Josh is home on Sundays, so just being able to wake up to him being home, makes every Sunday brighter.  Sundays are also the day all my kids are home, longer than just 2 hours before going to bed. With this upcoming week being my daughters Spring Break, my parents stayed the night to be able to take her to meet up with her dad ...

NO LIMB-ITS CHALLENGE- Day 2

April 2 nd , 2022: I woke up exhausted, I guess from everything I accomplished on day one of the “NO LIMB-IT’s” Challenge. I mean cleaning back in the day, on TWO legs, was stressful enough on the body (Lol). Every momma or home maker understands the back aches of sweeping an moping the whole house, doing dishes, laundry. That will have your body feeling 10 years older. And all I did, was pick up toys, sweep the dinning room, and the kitchen, and washed dishes. My body though is telling me my 30-year-old self is the equivalence of a 75-year-old. Yeah, there is all that, but the real reason I’m exhausted is because, I couldn’t sleep. But, its not from the pain, the aches, and definitely not from those depressing thoughts, wondering why my life is even still existing. It’s the pride, it’s the excitement!! All of this, this Challenge, this Blog, this PURPOSE! The feeling I had writing my blog last night, seeing what I did! What I DID! That was me and 24 hrs befor...

Beginning of Limb Loss Awareness Month- Challenge!!

April 1st, 2022: 9 weeks since surgery: Beginning of Limb Loss Awareness Month. Today, looking at the life I’m living, realizing the differences, since my amputation. Since my accident really.  I don't even do close to 1/8th of what I used to. I’m still not completely healed, and the frustration of knowing this one little spot is keeping me from living!! “But is it ??” I thought about this hard this morning. And the true answer is, No, It’s me! I am standing in my own way!  This is not how I want to live, so it is up to me to break away from the “crutches” around me.(need my actual crutches still. lol) Stop asking for drinks, food, to clean up. I need to do those things myself.  “But how?” Scrolling through the Amputee support group site, I looked at the memes floating around Empowering statements with individuals doing incredible things, even without prosthetics.  You guys, there is a woman dressing and feeding her baby, COOKING like on a stove, no hands, jus...
